A lot of the pavement we see in Louisville was laid decades ago along busy corridors like Dixie Highway, Preston Highway and Shelbyville Road. Much of it has been patched and sealed several times and is now showing the same pattern: alligator cracking where trucks turn, potholes near drains and faded striping that no longer matches how the lot is used. Freeze-thaw winters and hot, humid summers speed that up once water gets into the base.
